Side Project / Designing a Reading App

Riding a Classic

UX/UI

Objective

The objective of this assignment is to design a habit-forming app that improves users' lives, while also learning the fundamentals of UX/UI design for mobile apps. The goal of the app is to help users read classic books from start to finish, by providing book background information, an online reading community, and a habit-tracking feature to keep users motivated.

Approach

I conducted research to understand why people struggle to finish reading classic literature, and discovered that a lack of background knowledge on the history and language conventions of the era often prevents readers from fully engaging with the material. To address this, I designed an app that incorporates the concept of neumorphism, a graphical user interface that creates the illusion of a physical object, to simulate the tactile experience of reading a physical book.
